Growing From MILK To MEAT
I was raised in the Christian church. I grew up having Bible studies in the living room, sitting in church pews for hours on end, and learned all of the famous Bible stories. It wasn't until I gave my life to Christ for myself , and started taking my faith seriously, that I realized just how much of a spiritual baby I was!
Accepting Jesus Christ is an overwhelming feeling of love, and appreciation, for the sacrifice God gave through Jesus' death, burial & resurrection. But after the honeymoon stage is over, there comes a time when you have to study the Word and learn more about the new life you accepted through Christ.
it's a huge mental and spiritual reset...
Believing in an unseen God.
Believing in an afterlife.
Believing that a human man died, then rose from the grave, and is now your Savior, and gives you access to that afterlife.
It's a lot to digest!
It's vital to start your Spiritual journey with milk, and take Spiritual baby steps to prevent becoming overwhelmed, and discouraged. But at some point, you have to put down the formula, start applying all of that Word you're studying, GROW UP in your faith, and grow deeper within your relationship with Yahweh.
Start eating MEAT!
Yes, I knew Bible stories in great detail.
Yes, I knew the names of the books of both the Old & New Testaments.
However, I realized I needed more than just memorized verses to walk the walk of a Believer.
When Satan saw how serious I was with learning and doing more for God, he came swiftly...
Tests & attacks felt like they were coming from every angle. I remember driving to my sister's apartment, pacing back & forth in her bedroom, telling her what Satan was doing to me. We both agreed that he was sending me messages, and I had a target on my back! I've heard of spiritual warfare, but never noticed myself IN IT!
And let me tell you something: there's no prayer more intense than those you pray when you're under spiritual attack!
As I clungggggggg to Yahweh for protection and security during that unsettling season, He reminded me that yes, Jesus provided me with salvation, but it's the Holy Spirit, the Ruach haKodesh, that's going to help me throughout this human experience. I already HAVE the victory through my union with Him!
Communing with the Holy Spirit that lives inside of us not only gives Him the props He deserves, but intensifies our relationship with Him. Knowing who He is, what He gives us, and how He serves us -- it makes Him more real!
This fact made me focus on what the Word said about the Holy Spirit that lives inside of me, and took my focus off the nonsense Satan was throwing my way.
Ready to eat some meat (study and understand heavier Spiritual content)?
Here are some appetizing scriptures about Who lives inside of us:
EXODUS 31:3 - He gives us wisdom, skill, knowledge; He truly sets us apart
NUMBERS 27:18 - He makes us capable to do whatever it is God has called us to do
1st SAMUEL 16:13 - once on/in us, He will never leave us
JOEL 2:28-29 - there are side effects to having the Holy Spirit; He takes our faith to a whole new level of revelation!
Once I hit Romans, Chapter 8, I had to get out of the kitchen...
...because the BEEF STEW it served threw me for a loop!

8:5-6 - when the Spirit is in charge, it has tangible results
8:10 - although our bodies will eventually die, our Spirit will never die

You have a divine power living inside of you that helps you:
- make decisions
- discern people and situations around you
- gives you a desire for God
- gives you access to the Father
- serves as a lawyer and advocate on your behalf
- helps you understand and believe the Gospel
- and is the same power that rose Jesus Christ from the grave!
You are a spiritual force to be RECKONED WITH, and you are not alone.
